Jim talking in Chicago

Post by MTS » Mon Mar 03, 2008 8:04 pm

Congrats Jim on going to the Chicago Cichlid group to talk. I bet you'll set them straight about mixing loaches with Africans.

Thanks!
That's a good point about mixing loaches with Africans.
I'll probably run into someone who has done it succesfully, though. :?
By the way, how did you find out I was going to speak?

I live about two and a half hours drive from Chicago. I haven't been to any of the club meetings there but I check their web site to see who the speaker is.

I also check the classified ads on their site and have advertised some of my shellie fry on their site with a fair amount of success. I may be advertising bristlenose cats and P. phenochilus fry there soon.

Well, sorry to say, I won't be bringing any. I can't fit them in my travel bag.
I was in Aquarium World in Lafayette today and they didn't have any or I could have brought some up your way. They have been trying to get some sewellia for someone who wants about 8 so I suspect they will be getting some soon....but not today.

Well, I made it safely through Jims talk since he forgot to bring his river rocks to throw at hecklers....

He did all us loach guys proud. I was in the back listening to some of the comments being made during his talk and I think that he may have made converts of some of the Cichlid guys...

The pictures from the book and and the forum were beautiful and provoked all sorts of great comments.

The hillstreams were a hit and several people were talking about looking into getting loaches. There were lots of intelligent questions too.

The club videotaped the presentation and I'm going to see if I can get a copy and I'll dub for those interested.

I got a picture with Jim and my copy of the loach book. Several people asked where they could get copies and Jim could have sold several while he was there. I had to put a chain on my book to keep it from walking away.

Cheers and kudos to Jim on a job well done.

NO VIDEO TAPE!!!
We had some slight technical issues so I would rather this one not be used.
Too bad I didn't bring those river rocks!
