Help with loach types.

Post by beastym67 » Sun Apr 27, 2008 1:24 am

I've always loved loaches and I've bought Golden Dojo Loaches and Brown Dojo Loaches. My mom has a Kuhli Loach. I was wondering if my loaches are just different colors of a Kuhli Loach or not. I'm not sure. Could you tell me the different kinds of loaches, I love seeing some of the pics here but pet stores around here never have loaches with cool variations like those.

Welcome beastym67 :D

The Dojo (Weather) loaches belong to a genus called Misgurnus and the kuhli loaches belong to a different genus known as Pangio.

Have a browse through the link that Blue provided, you'll see there are many different types of loaches. Some of them are so vastly different to others and require very specialised set-ups. The articles section http://www.loaches.com/articles will give you some ideas.
