Big screwup--need help (Vancouver, Canada)

Post by Prune » Mon May 19, 2008 5:29 am

Need to find a new home for a young (about 2") kuhli loach which I got not realizing it was a tropical loach. Someone take him before he gets eaten by my goldfish or weather loaches, or dies from the low temperature and high pH of my tank... :(

Hi Prune,

If you don't hear back from anyone in your area, could you take the kuhli loach back to the store?

If it had been the 'other' Vancouver...WA. I could have taken it. Sorry

Normally they don't take back fish, but if I bug them enough maybe they'll take it.

It's still alive. Still looking for someone to adopt it.

Where abouts are you in Vancouver? I will be down there around the 26th of June. I will be in Maple Ridge for a short time and Cloverdale over night. I can bring everything I need to get him back to Calgary safe and sound. He will be going into a tank with 13 other Kuhlis so he will have alot of company.

I'm on the West side but I can go anywhere public transportation does.

There's another store I found that has these loaches so I'll ask them if they'll adopt it; otherwise, I hope you can take him.

Hey Prune. What store did you get it from? I'm in South Delta, but it's difficult for me to take on any more fish at the moment.

Do you have a spare 10g hospital tank? You could pop a heater in with some of the current tank water and then gradually raise the temp to better suit the kuhli. If you can manage this until fish_frenzy gets to town, it might be the best option.

PS - You might be able to unload the loach at Aquariums West downtown. If you explain the problem, they're pretty good at helping out. If you call them, say that Mark Macdonald (of the loach book) suggested them. Not to name drop, but I am friends with the owners.

We have a change of plans and can no longer make it to the coast. I have at least another 6 weeks of physio apparently :( Hope you find/have found a new home for him.

HEY!

I work in Burnaby, I may able to get a temp home for the little guy if you can meet me some where.

Also check out: http://www.bcaquaria.com/forum/index.php That's the British Columbia Aquarist site and you might be able to find some one closer there that will take it.

Oh and there's April at Pets Beautiful out your way, her place is a dog grooming store but she also sells fish and plants. You could totally take him there. http://www.petsbeautiful.com/aquarium/index.php

Infact I think she has some other Kuhli loaches atm.
