Nice pics and fish as always Emma.
Looking in 'A Photographic Guide to the Inland-water Fishes of Taiwan' I dont think they are H. formosanus. They seem to match the live photo images of Sinogastromyzon puliensis or S. nantaiensis. I will have a closer look and come back to you.

Although they are reminiscent of S. nantaiensis I think they are S. puliensis. To be certain I need a higher res image from the side as I need to count the (small!) lateral line scales!
I'm quite sure they are not H. formosanus.

I will try for a better image over the next few days. Last year, I did import some other balitorids under the S. puliensis nametag, and they were different again.

I was looking at these S. puliensis on fishbase. They must be in the same tank with the H. formosanus, that's the same rock!

Here are the loaches that came in as 'Giant Grey Suckers - S. puliensis'. One was much bigger than the rest (which is shown first) the rest looked slightly more spotted and more 'Beaufortia-like':

I dont think those are S. puliensis, unless the Taiwan book is wrong but it is a very high quality publication. I will wait for your photos

Still trying for pics, and this is the best I've been able to manage so far:

The.Dark.One, I may have to put a specimen or two into my photo tank again for close-ups, as they are very secretive in the stock tank.

I got the images. Still very difficult to count the lateral line scales due to their small size. I have done the best I can do and based on the count I have done (or tried to!) they appear to be S. puliensis.
