Gastromyzon sp. (more pics added 30th Aug)

First off, apologies for the poor quality pics, I will try to get some better ones!

This little beauty came in with a batch of 'Borneo Suckers' and it is one I have not seen before. The pics do not do it justice, the caudal and dorsal are a really intense bright yellow colour and the dorsal has a bit of bright orange in it too. It's about 2" TL.

and this shot is particularly crap, but I wanted to include it as it shows the fins spread wide so you can see some of the colour and pattern:

Any ideas on ID? More pics to follow sometime this week.

Stunning fish! I love gastromyzons and that could be my new favorite!! You always make me jealous Emma, wish I had a shop like yours in my area!!

Wow, these are just gorgeous. I could do with moving to Peterborough.
Having looked at some images I can't decide what species they are,
initially I thought something like G.ornaticauda but I'll keep checking.

Looks very similar to my contaminant Gastromyzon i found a year or so ago. Mine hasn't the same colour intensity as yours Emma but to the naked eye you can see a tinge of yellow on them.

I thought mine was a Gastromyzon lepidogaster with a more formal stripe pattern going on, but i'm not sure. Here's my chap, he's about 2.5 inches.

Thanks for the nice comments (despite my crap pictures) everyone! :D

Graeme, I think it does look quite similar, but the majority of the shipment mine came in with were G. ctenocephalus, which I think is found much further west than G. lepidogaster. :?: Did your specimen ever display a brighter colouration on the fins when it was smaller, or was it already quite big when you bought it?

Hi Emma, my chap has always been that size from the day i purchased him. I wonder if yours are showing the juvenile colourations? Yeah mine was also in with a batch of G. ctenocephalus's.

Or maybe mine is female and yours is a male :idea:
