mollie shimmy or just weird

Post by cloudgodd » Sat Oct 18, 2008 11:00 am

ok I have a mollie that looks like he is doing the mollie shimmy(shaking his head No), but the thing is he only does it at night when the lights go out and he is sleeping.

my nitrites are a little high, but I have been double dosing with PRIME to make them non-toxic, and 50% water changes until today.

I do have salt in the water about 2 Table Spoons in 24 gal vol tank.

So what else could this be?

Mollies like warmer water, like upper 70s. What is the temperature?

Mollies are fine with salt, some can even handle full marine conditions. Some other fish are not so great with salt. Are there other fish in this tank?
The dose of salt for nitrite is based on first doing enough water changes (volume and frequency) to keep the nitrite under 1 ppm, then add salt @ 1 teaspoon per 20 gallons.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!
