skinny yoyo

ok i decided to go to a fish store that i dont normally go to, once there i picked up 4 lovely pangio's which i shall defo get some snaps of later then i saw the yoyo babies they are about 1inch long but skinny as hell lucky there was only 2 of them so i spke to the member of staff on duty who replied with oh well not my problem. so i bought the pair at a reduced rate due to they might not survive my question is this what is the best and easiest way to treat skinny and i really do mean skinny they are almost like a rizla paper i have a hospital tank setup cycled and runnign they are gettin settled in there but i would like to treat them a.s.a.p

Rave, i would leave medication for a bit mate, first try feeding them up.
it could be that they just did'nt get enough food, as you know how some shops are like at feeding their fish.
if you can get hold of some levamisole then give them a dose of that just to clear the guts of worms if they have any.

I bought some crappy condition ones in Rhyl (ones Doc now has) and they just fattened up with feeds. Most pet stores scrape on feeds imo, and get by on what they can-theres one I used to go to that fed entirely on KB flakes. Yes fine for upper/mid dwellers, but for loaches, not suitable... loaches were generally in bad condition because of this. Try get their strength up a bit before you start treating if they are that skinny

Two out of three I bought from the 'Chav shop' in Rhyl were little skinny things-I assume they wanted to be 'model yoyo's' or something

The big fat female came from Ireland-true quality that one

Bite you.. Im sure they are just 'friendly hints' to feed them-one of my cats does that, the feet being nipped in the morning... not nice


Rave, check out Kusuri wormer-you can get it on the ebay link below-decent guy, doesn't mess you about I have used it on my more recent loaches and seems to do the job. Best dose for two weeks just to be safe.

i had to buy them cuase i couldnt leave them in there incase some novice bought them, as a novice wouldnt have a clue what they need and such i have loaded the tank with algae wafers, bloodworm pellet and a little flake i will wait for a few weeks with feeding them up and see if it is just underfed fingers crossed i will try to get soem levasole but i have struggled to find any in any shops today

Rave you won't find it in shops, you will need to ring a vet clinic-you buy it over the counter. Its used as a pig/sheep wormer, usually most will be happy enough to help out if you explain what you need it for. You can order it online, but Im unsure were.

Rave good luck with getting them fat. if youcan find some hikari sinking carnivore pellets, i am sure they woll gobble them up. mine think they contain drugs. they are big loach happy pills
