Sewellia Lineolata?

On a local fish database here in Norway, I found a picture of a dotted hillstream loach listed under Sewellia Lineolata. I thought S. Lineolata always had interconnected polygonal markings?

Anyone able to confirm that this is S. Lineolata, or know what other sp. it could be?

They are indeed not Sewellia Lineolata. They are a un-described Sewellia though.

Sewellia albiseura has been suggested.

Hmmm, ours don't seem to look like the un-preserved specimen of S. albiseura depicted in Freyhof's paper "Sewellia albiseura, a new balitorid loach from central Vietnam (Cypriniformes: Balitoridae)" though. There seems to be much more reticulation on the upper parts of the body on the specimens shown.

Did you send dev the pdf Emma? I had it linked, but the link doesn't show the full document now. I have the pdf myself though.

S. albisueria is more like a lineolata with finer markings, definitely not the spotted fish like you have or in dev's link.

By the way dev, fantastic to see another person from Norway. We have a few Scandinavian members now...welcome aboard!

Update: Nik-enduser from Petfrd is Dr. Tan Heok Hui who just published the book The Borneo Suckers. He states that these are Sewellia albiseura.

Now for the confusion.

Hehe! I just got back from Singapore....well petfrd.com anyway. I was coming back to say, "Dr Tan says....."

How funny is that?

Anyhow, we all know there's another original description out there with the photo of the wrong fish in it, so is it possible that Freyhof's paper has the wrong picture. Just a thought.

Both the pictures and some of the discriptions of the S. Albiseura in the PDF does'nt seem anything like our 'spotties' to me. Grey!?!?
