Striata and Kubotai

Post by slick666 » Sat Mar 07, 2009 11:10 pm

Do the two species get along? I have 4 Striata and my local store just got a couple Kubotai in. I wonder if the two would get along.

I have them together with no problems. The tank aplha is a striata and she's a bit bossy. The bigger Kubs challenge her now and then and they do the round and round but no apparent injuries.

they should be fine together, if bought as youngsters they are out in the open most of the time.
my kub's are the lords over the striata, mainly because of the size difference, but hardly any damage is seen on either.

One would think they would get along. I'm sure there's always an oddball here and there but for the most part, they should be okay.

i cant see why they cant get on together, but please remember you should aim to keep more striata and more kubs than 4 and 2 of each. they do prefer company of their own species.

I have 10 of each. The striata appear dominant, but I've seen them "fight" once. The kub was greying out, but appeared to be the aggressor. My experience is that they are fine together.

I think the kub took exception to a striata invading a favourite hangout. The striatas like to hang out under some driftwood, while the kubs often like to hang on semi-vertical surfaces, like driftwood. It only happened once - they seemed to settle their differences and I haven't seen it again. The two fish were about the same size, btw. Striatas seem a bit more 'nippy' and tend to hold the upper hand when all else is equal!
