weather loach
We're in the process of trying to replace our fish that were killed in the ice storm a couple of months ago.Yesterday we purchased a weather loach to go in our community tank. I've been researching (yes, I know I should have done this before purchasing the fish) and saw where the loaches are very social. Do I have to have another weather loach or can I get the common black Khuli loach to keep the weather company?
Thank you for any info you can give me.

Hi kenike77, welcome to Loaches Online.
You need to purchase more of the same species to keep your weather loach company. Kuhlis, whilst of similar shape, have totally different requirements and will not provide adequate company for your weather loach. You will see a huge difference in behaviour when you add more of the same. I take it you're aware that long-term, weather loaches prefer cooler temperatures to that of a standard community aquarium? http://www.loaches.com/species-index/we ... licaudatus
Hope this helps,
Emma

Thank you, Emma. Your info was very helpful. I gues we will be scouting out for another weather loach during the rest of my girl's spring break!
