I brought 9 specimens of the lovely Yunnanilus cruciatus home from work a few days ago. They were placed in a 250 l. tank (100*50*50 cm) furnished with a lot of bogwood, finegrained sand, javaferns and javamoss. Along with them I added 2 Hyalobagrus flavus, a few snails and some Cherry-Shrimps.
Right now, I'm observing spawning behaviour among the Y.cruciatus. They move around the tank swiftly by pair, the male and the female keeping very close together, dispatching a single egg at a time directly at the tank wall and on javafern leaves. They are very tiny, and placed high up from the bottom. I have no idea about the waterparameters in the tank. It's filtrated by an external Eheim filter, giving the water a moderate flow. I guess the change of environment has triggered the spawning. More to come as I have it!

my name is Frank. I come from Germany. For that, sorry for my lousy english.
I have 6 of the Y.cruciatus since 10/2008. They had spawned at the end of March two times. The fishes are in a 45 litre Tank. There are now about 20 young fishes. Here are some pics:

Liitle loach, maybe 1 week old (you can see, they eat artemia):
They are eating al lot (2 weeks old)
And yes it is a Y. cruciatus (3 weeks old):
Now they are at an age of 1 Month an nearly 2 - 2,5 cm long. The growin is rapidly fast.
The waterparameter are PH 7,5, 330 µS, 7 GH.

The spawning happened just as I was leaving the house today, and when I returned home I couldn't see the eggs on the glass anymore. However, there may be more spread around the tank. I don't intend to remove them or anything, I'll just see how this works out the natural way this time 
Besides, the eggs were so small I don't even know if it would be possible to remove them...
Unfortionately I don't have the best camera in the world, so detailed pics will be hard to get. I have taken a few shots however. First a view of the whole tank:
And then a poor pic of some of the Yunnanilus enjoying life digging in the sand:
I'll see if I can get the water parameters checked tomorow.

please dont worry about your english Frank. there are severl people who post here regualrly whose 1st language isnt english, and we have several German members who m,ay be able to translate if there is ever a big confusion, but tere rarely is

great tank for the Yunnanilus. You have to wait and you will see nothing. In 7-10 days maybe you see one small fish. Then, one week later you will see a lot of fishes.
Feed early artemia.
My Yunnanilus eat the eggs, but not all. Maybe the shrimps in your tank are a problem.
