I have a 75 gallon tank with two filters. One filter is on each side. Most of my fish try to pile in behind a plant that is in front of one of them. I cannot figure out why. The other side of the tank is the same way but they wont swim under that filter. My water is fine and when I have to turn the filters off for what ever reason they go back to swimming around. I was told I should put a water jet in one side to make a current. If thats why, I dont understand why they just swim under the one filter. My australian sharks got it started and then the clowns joined in. That filter is also on the side of the tank that is to the corner of the wall. Maybe they feel like they are hiding because of the wall.

Maybe in that spot the water current is soft or is moving in one direction. Some tanks have water moving in several directions. In the side of the tank near the filter, there might be a strong up flow that the fish don't care much for. I rarely ever see my fish near filter intakes for whatever reason.
If you have 2 HOB filters, with one on each side of the tank there is probably 2 currents in the tank colliding together in the middle. If you put both the filters on the same side of the tank, maybe the water current will flow as one and in one direction.
Or maybe there is a voltage leak in the filter, which would be real bad. I'd carefully inspect the filter and not use it if the appears to be a leak.

I have lots of hiding places for them. Alot of plants. Two filters but they swim where the water is coming down from the one. THe australian sharks are mainly there but the clowns are mocking the. Ive heard that shark called a bull shark. When I turn the filters off or at night they all come out and swim around. I was told to try one of those jets in my tank to put a current they can play in.
