More Panda Garras [PICS + VIDEO]

Great looking pandas, they are fast becoming one of my fave fish their antics almost rival that of my clown loaches (almost). I have 3 small ones in my planted tank and 3 larger ones in my mish mash cichlid tank. They are so fearless too. Have you put your hand in the tank with them yet??

I have a small problem now when its cold and dry outside, after soaking hands in the tank I get small blisters. So I try not to do it more than necessary. But that looks so awesome it might be worth the sacrifice

I would not worry. I think they are playing. I have seen sids carry on this way. My garras get pretty rambunctious sometimes.

Yesterday I did a water change and tried to approach them but they swam away. But when putting just the fingertips at the surface at the spot I usually feed my fish, the biggest garra arrives to check it out.

Good to know that its only play, it started again after the water change. A S. balteata joined in for a while

I'm starting to think I need more of these and make them an own tank, If only there were room for it. The rest of the family loves the idea

Any idea of how long lived these are? I think they look like they are "built to last".

Age wise, i wouldn't be far wrong if i suggested 8+ years.

I love those fish.., they're beautiful. They look a lot like loaches too.

What temp are you keeping the tank at to keep everyone happy??

The temp at the moment is 23C, which surprised me. It should be 24-24,5C. The heater has some issues....

That's encouraging - a comfortable temp overlap with the garras, hillies and able to keep some sids in there too. This is inspiring me greatly for my next tank.

The Sids are not in the tank anymore, they started to get a little territorial. So I sold them to join a bigger pack of Sids before any damage was done. Bet they are happier now.

Got 5 more todayand making the Panda population reach 8, very happy. These are smaller than the ones I have, quite a lot. They are in a q-tank at the moment and not hiding at all, very brave small fish. I started to wonder if these are bred in Myanmar, all in the shop were the same size. They move as a group and hardly venture alone, fun to watch

(LFS got 10 and I'm considering to get the 5 that was left)

Janne, how much does Flavatras cost in Finland? I've only seen one in Sweden and it cost about 200sek

The 3 first were 20€/fish, but now they are maybe 16€. Didn't ask the real price, he owed me from something. So the old price is about the same as you have over there.
