Newbie with some Yo-Yo questions

Post by clint » Sat Feb 06, 2010 10:41 am

Hi all i have a 90g setup 9 months now with yoyos, striatas and kuhlis along with some rainbows. I was wondering at what age would one consider yoyos adults? My 7 are all around 4.5" cept 1 runt. Do they continue to grow until 6" or is 6" a rare fish in captivity? Also do they continue to gain reticulation as they age? I have alot of flat stone stacked to create many nooks and crannys for the fish. The available surface area has been greatly increased by doing this. Each fish could have his own little cave if they choose. The bottom dwellers also include 1 rainbow shark who shares the stone with the loaches with no problems. He'll use his head to knock any out of his nook if hes in the mood, but tolerates the kuhils all 11 of them. He is never aggressive to the loaches, not like when i had a chinese algae eater in there. This is also a planted tank if it matters or not.

Hello clint,

You will notice that marks on YoYo body gets scrambled as they age. You probably will not see the Y and the O on her body as they age.
6" is top size YoYos, not so common. I would consider 4 to 5" an adult YoYo.
