different clowns?

Post by FAILED » Tue Mar 09, 2010 1:02 am

Are there different kinds of clowns? I have often seen the elongated type but, more often seen the more "plump" clown... Just recently i've seen a bunch of clowns that range from 6-8" that had longer snouts and weren't as deep as most clowns... sorry can't find pics of these

There seems to be a great deal of variability in this species in general.
There are also distinct populations in Borneo and Sumatra. Bornean are longer-snouted and brighter/redder, Sumatran seem bigger with reports up to 2' in the wild.
They are supposed to still be the same species, though there seems little research to verify. Want a grad-school project?

Martin's done some diagrams on the LOL website. Have a look.
