I've seen the behavior of a territorial Syncronuss chasing other loaches to upper areas of the tank with my loaches in a 40 long. More room is an obvious solution but I managed to deal with it by adding more hardscape to block lines of sight and provide many many hiding places for the loaches.

I'm glad to hear you purchaed more of them and that you've purchased a larger tank. I myself just purchased a 125 gallon for my 8. I've also recently been keeping them with a 5" bristle nose pleco. They were very curious towards him, but haven't attacked or chased him at all. If anything he's the aggressor.
