I do have pics from users or loaches online but i always ask never had anyone say no way to me (hopefully it will never happen

) so i cant think af any reason why a person wont send an email for permission it's 60 seconds extra time to send the mail?

Lot's of pictures with an article is always good for getting a better view of the fish or subject. (sorry to say but all my articles are in dutch)

but getting back on the subject. most copying takes place on sites for selling stuff (like fish) in the netherlands we have www.marktplaats.nl and there is just a simple click and some text away if one sees there © not placed by them the ad of picture is taken of the site within an hour most of the time.

I actually asked him if he has his own photo to ensure that this is the fish...he replied that it is the same fish....

If anyone who uses the Aquabid site would like to have a 'polite word' with this picture thief I'd be very grateful. It won't let me send him/her a message without me joining the site, which I don't want to have to do.

It really does anger me that this sort of thing happens so often. That Homaloptera zollingeri pic was one of several XL specimens that we conditioned up over a period of several months - I would bet all the money in the world that the sellers fish is not in such superb condition. Not only is it stealing other peoples hard work, but it also creates false advertising. Isn't there any way of copyrighting the images used on LOL so that people can't steal them quite so easily?

I've submitted a complaint to aquabid.

I also sent him a question asking him if its ok to use a stolen copyright picture that isn't an actual picture of the fish he has for sale.

It would not help any to privately talk to the guy,..he'll simply ignore the message.

The effective way would be to complain to Aquabid... and also watermark the older pictures with you name like you do with the new ones.

As for the misleading advertisement -- very true. One reason I asked him to provide his own photo....

I did complain to aquabid on both the copyright theft and the fraud. One or the other should do.

I pointed them to the species index and attributed the photos to Emma.

All you have to do is make he watermark "invisible" use an almost clear font color so the eye does not detect it, and when you see your photo is stolen you just have to "invert" the colors of the photo, and the watermark will be visable.

If someone is making money with the aid of your pic, then you deserve some of that money!

Selling something with a picture that is not an actual pic of the item being sold is not right. Juvenile fish offered for sale should have a picture of the tankful of the juvies, the actual ones in the auction.
Asking permission, and posting someone elses' pic as an example of what the adult fish can look like ought to be labeled as such, with credit to the photographer.
