Unknown Gastromyzon?

Post by Jim Powers » Thu Sep 09, 2010 5:37 pm

Unfortunately, I could not get a pic of this fish, but my favorite lfs has a small gastro that I can not ID.
Its only about .75 inches (2cm) in length and initially looks dark brown.
But, if you get it in stronger light or shine a light on it, it has lighter brown stripes and worm-like markings. The caudal fin has a narrow band of blue down the middle.
It almost looks like a zebrinus, but the markings are darker than any I have seen.
Perhaps its a variation on the normal zebrinus coloration.
Or it could be another species. It came in a shipment of scitulus and ctenocephalus.
Anyone have any ideas what it might be?
I imagine, if its still there next week, it will be coming home with me. :D
