I have 3 loaches. I got them one at a time about a week apart.
Anyway the last one I got is jerking, like jumping sideways and I
can tell he can't control himself. I need to know what this is and
can I help him in some way.

Re: I have a jerking loach...help
What species of loach is it?
If it's a weather loach (dojo), they can get frenetic like that when the barometric pressure drops. Watch him and see if he can stop on his own. If not, then it's probably some kind of nerve or brain damage.
I had one that suddenly turned onto his back and scooted uncontrollably along the substrate, trying to right himself without success. But then he returned to normal, and has moved normally ever since.
Weather loaches and kuhli loaches have elongated bodies, and things can happen with them that wouldn't happen with loaches whose bodies are shaped more like fish, such as clowns.
Please keep us posted as to whether or not it resolves itself.
