Loach Friends?

Post by 021414 » Sat Apr 07, 2012 3:05 pm

Hello Everyone,

I am a newbie here and I had a question about loach compatibility. I have had several black kuhli loaches over the years and absolutely love these little guys. I recently acquired two Botia kubotai's and have read about the minimum quantity (3+). So, I am wondering if my current two black kuhli loaches can successfully be friends and shoal with the Botia kubotai's?

Thanks a bunch!

Even though they are both 'loaches'; they are from different families. You do not say what size your tank is. That would be the more important think to know because the Botia kubotai can get quite large.

I have a 20 gallon right now but am planning to upgrade within about 6 months. I am leaning toward a 55 gallon tank. My Botia kubotais seem to be more interested in my tiger barbs rather than the black kuhli loaches.

Update.

My Botia Kubotais are playing with the Black Kuhli Loaches! They appear to be doing the "dance" across the sides of the tank along with my Kuhli's. They aren't using the cichlid stones I bought for them, but are hiding in a grass mat when resting.
