I read that Hillstream loaches do okay in cooler water like dojos do. Are they aggressive toward dojos, and how big do they ultimately get. Also, will they eat algae from the glass sides of the tank? Basically, I am looking for a NON-aggressive algae eating fish that will thrive in cooler water AND is of appropriate size for a 65-gallon tank. If they grow too large, I can transfer them to a friend's outdoor pond. I need something that will behave like a pleco in sucking algae from the glass.
Thanks ...

Hillstreams are max at about 3" I think, like fast moving, highly oxygenated water. They are very gentle. But I would check each individual species on temp reuirements.
Re: Hillstream loaches and dojos?
The adaptive water temperature of Dojo is very wide.
However, in HillStream, low temperature does not seem to have adaptation.
They are distributed to the subtropics, but are not in Japan which is the temperate zone.
When water temperature less than 22 degrees Celsius continues for a long time, according to my experience, they may become white spot disease.
I control water temperature from 23 to 26 degrees Celsius.
