candystripe parents ??????

Post by WOOWOO » Tue Jul 03, 2012 11:55 am

Hi we are new to this site and looking for some help !! We have 2 candysripes in our tank and one has just got "fat" . Im assuming she has eggs and will lay then under the bog wood that she has now made a tunnel under . My question is .....how do I sex the other one ? Apparently its extremely rare for candy's to reproduce in an aquarium .

Candystripe as in Plecos?

Maybe Planet Catfish has pics of M & F so you might tell the difference. With most of the Loricariads I believe it is a different shape to the vent, so look very carefully if they ever cling to the glass.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!

I think they are botia striata. I doubt you will be able to breed them but you never know. Loach eggs are very small, food for other fish including the parents, or to be sucked into the filter.

I had several, some that were fat, some not. I assume the chubby ones were female. Some say the red nose is only on males, I'm not sure if that's true.
