Got snappy sans flash today. The tuberculation on this fish is amazing.

I know this is an old thread but I can't sleep so I'm wasting time reading old stuff..

What does Tuberculation mean?

Never heard that used except to describe tuberculosis

I know what a tubercule is but I can't find any on the fish...

Did you mean the spots? If so the english language needs to re-evaluate the wordy term for 'spotted-ness" to something like spotification or dottinism... no? Tuberculism is just too much to wrap ones mind around...

These are the things I contemplate at five in the morning...

Not the spots, the tiny raised dots all over its head and nose. Most Gastromyzon have them and in Pseudogastromyzon they're enlarged around the nose in males to act as weapons.

You are lucky to be able to photo them...mine never come to the front glass, so every single photo is bad.... Still, I believe this guy is a cousin of yours.

Looks similar Mike, but it's closer to Shari's unusual one. Does your's share any of the colour-changing abilities that she's reported?

Not as much, and specifically not this fellow. He is always grey.
Larger ones do, but nothing extraordinary.

I'll try but cannot promise decent pictures, they run away every time I approach the tank and lately avoid the front of the tank altogether. Cteno's, otoh, absolutely don't care.

All right, this one is more or less decent. Two cteno's, two (alleged) stellatus. All peaceful. Had to trap them with the slimy stuff...

Interesting...they have that bar accross the back like Martin's and Sharis which my two don't. :?
