Two new loaches

Post by Frank M. Greco » Sun Nov 05, 2006 8:13 pm

These came in from Thailand as "Botia Mountain Loach". Well, they are not Botias! Any ideas?

They also had something called a Botia Mountain Loach Black, but that was not shipped.

They look like the true Tuberoschistura specimens!!

Imagine the above loach as a adult Rosy loach but Tuberoschistura arakanensis may be a Synonym for Tuberoschistura baenzigeri (Kottelat, 1983) :?:

This could be a Tuberoschistura baenzigeri.

This could be a Tuberoschistura baenzigeri.
Can't find any pics of this species.

The spotting along the sides seems to be different.

The dorsal marking appear to be more defined than in the specimen I have.
Could be. I need to see what mine look like when they color up.

Looks like N. pallidus to me. Saddles are narrower than the gaps between.

Martin.
Image Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

Probably this is an argument toward Nem.. species, with color faded post-shipping as is quite common. What about the barbels? Are they as long as with pallidus/masyai ???

I'll need to get a closeup of the head to know for sure.
