Albert is approximately 16 years old....something close to that.

And it's not hunger....he loves attention. He comes to the glass and wiggles at me and follows my hand around :D

I wish my clowns would do that.Ive trid but i may as well have tried getting them to eat a rock.They just swam away.

mamaschild, do you happen to have a side-on pic of Albert? It is just that due to the bulky size of him, I have been wondering for a while if in fact, 'he' is a 'she' (Alberta? :lol: )..... :?

I always love seeing that hand feeding pic though! 8) :D

I took this pic when I first got Albert....does it help??? I've been told his shape has improved since I got him. I think he was a bit "squished" in the 60g I took him out of :?

I was told by Craig (Basher) that he was a he, so I never questioned it ;)

You know, I've been curious as to how to tell the genders of clown loaches. What would you look for to determine this?

Well, it is not 100% guaranteed, and really only possible with large adult specimens. A female of the same age and length would be much 'taller in the body' and much have a much rounder abdomen. There is a bit of speculation about the tips of the tails, but I'm not so sure about that. I believe that the males have much larger and more deeply forked tails though. If you think about Carp (also from the Order Cypriniformes) the females are noticeably fuller-bodied.
