LOACH TANK QUESTION! Very Urgent!

Post by poeticpyro » Sat Dec 16, 2006 10:29 am

It's been a long time since I've been back on this forum and I'd have to say the site looks amazing and it's much improved...

back to what matters.

I had a 125 gal oceanic tank (on the oceanic stand) it was sitting up above the garage. it leaked pouring all of the water on the floor ruining it, the carpet, the ceiling and walls of the garage. We now have fixed all of the problems and have put another identical tank back in its spot (Oceanic and Petsmart were simply amazing throughout this ordeal).

What I want to know is this:

1. What can cause a leak?
2. Can Excessive Vibrations (from foot traffic (not a lot), a dog, doors and the garage door) cause a stress fracture?
many tanks...

got to love my fat little wobbly wigglies...

When it was set up was it level? Water weighs roughly 8lbs/gallon. You had about 1000 lbs of just water in the tank if it was full. How good was the support under the floor?

I can't really address the stress fracture causes, but these were my first two thoughts. Sorry to hear about the catastrophe! What a mess that must have been...

How are the fish, etc?
books. gotta love em!

the tank is level thank god... it was the first time.

the fish are alright, but still freaked out. i have two filters on the tank and they're all alive. the plecos are not doing as well as i would like, but it's only been about one day so... we'll see.

you don't want to know what they were in during the repairs (3 months of time)
3 days in a large filtered/ heated rubbermaid tub and then into a 55 gal for the rest of the time

On another note:
(Oceanic and Petsmart were simply amazing throughout this ordeal).
Which PetSmart? I'd like to be able to credit them with a job well done if you are happy with their response to your problem. (click on my signature for more info...)
