I know I'm a bit biased, but personally I would recommend neither - in a spacious clown aquarium, I'd always recommend that you add more clowns to your group! Having over 40 of them in my tank, you see such wonderful social behaviour every evening.

Theoretically, if there was extra space in my tank (which there isn't anymore) and I had room for more loaches, I'd add more clowns. Then I'd have another tank for the B. striata and B. histrionica (if I had room in the house!). Of course you can keep both these species quite successfully with clown loaches, and if I had to choose I'd probably say go for the B. histrionica as they are more outgoing and less shy than the B. striata. Make sure your clowns have plenty of buddies though.

Tee hee :P yes, someone definitely loves her clowns!
They have such strange personalities- my favorite part being their curiosity. I love how insanely hyper mine are- it's like they're on sugar rush nearly 24-7  One of mine is rather tiny- a glutton, but tiny- how do I go about fattening him up? And how long do I do this without him gaining weight to know if it's skinny? Poor guy is just a little speck!
I'll definitely give them some buddies, and investigate the histrionica

Your best bet would be to give them a series of Levamisole treatments to make sure. Then just ensure that you feed them a good varied diet of both dry foods and small frozen foods such as daphnia and mosquito larvae to help them gain weight. Little and often is best, and make sure that water quality is kept in tip-top condition, as frequent feedings can quickly lead to pollution of the water.
Good luck!

Love that Striata ! i love the colouration you've managed to capture , the thick yellow bands , with the whitish interspaced finely streaked lines , the contrast is brilliant , those Histrionica are wonderful too , superbly conditioned fish !

I'll need to find that dose calculator then, won't I  Yes, he's a little skinny- very small- probably me being paranoid, seeing he's been in the pet store for roughly two months, and has been eating like a real pig lately. I just don't want to take any risks. Any chance of getting that dosage calculator??? Pretty please

Awwww the cuteness of those pictures is killing me! Makes me ache to have my own yoyos, but no LFS near me sells them (or any loach for that matter) and I need to buddy up with someone to order from Frank :(
