ok, thanks..i guess i will get the same stuff, it seems to be working good...and not harming the fish..

the lfs is closed because of the weekend, but i can go on monday...fun..maybe i'll get some freeze-dried bloodworms while im there

its been 164 hours (i think) and im going to do the 4th dose in 4 hours...

once i do this, i wont have any capsules left...

so that means i go on a shopping trip

haha

all the fish are doing great, no change from the normal behaviour...

the gourami has two spots left on her tail, both fairly large compaired to the rest (that are gone) so i guess that means its working!!

if i continue treating the tank 4 or 6 days (2 or 3 doses) after all the spots are gone, i will be good to go hopefully..

i cant wait to get this over with..the water is getting cloudy because of the loss of bacteria when i took the old carbon pouch out (carbon was all used up, i just kept it for bacteria...) but that'll clear up when i put some new carbon in, along with a big waterchange (20%)

so yea, the package said that 'some scaleless fish' would react to the medication...i guess loaches arent included in that!!

this adds one more ick med to the 'safe list' for loaches!!

so, its been around 213 hours...like 8 and a half days..

as of two hours ago, there are no more spots on my gourami!!!

HAPPY DAY!!!

i will keep dosing for 4 or 6 more days (choose one) just incase, i DO NOT want a relapse!!!

i will have to go get some more medication after school tomorrow, i used up my last two capsules last night...and i need to dose again tomorrow night...

tank temp is steady at 78-79º F...

all of the fish are happy, eating alot and very active..the yoyo is perfect, he is swimming around and clicking...haha

so yea, this medication is now declared LOACH SAFE!!

Glad to hear it! Good job.
I'd go for the 6 days. Heaven forbid you end up with a resistant strain and have to start all over with another med.

On the up side, if you ever get ich brought into the tank again there is some possibility (read that some) that the fish you've treated may be less susceptible in the future. There are theories regarding it out there. Accounts seem to be increasing.

hmm..interesting...it is possible that after enough exposure, the fish may build up an immunity (not 100%, but still better than nothing)

if i go for six days, i will have two capsules on hand when its all over..good..that buys me another 48 hours before i have to buy more!! haha

one thing the LFS owner told me, is that there are two freshwater kinds of Ick...one is the typical kind..covers the whole body..then theres another kind (not scientifically called 'ick') that only covers the fins...he said i might have it when i was in there..

he told me that if i had the common ick parasite, all the fish would be covered in it, not just one tail fin...interesting...

yea...he told me its not actually ick (not the same parasite) but it looks the same, and it only latches onto fins...hmm

he told me that when i told him that there were 8 spots on the gouramis TAIL...

i will look into it, maybe talk to him tomorrow when i'm there..

ARGHH!! i can wait for this to be over!!

my tank looks like crap, i havent done a waterchange in 10 days, theres poop everywhere!!!

when i took my old, old carbon pouch out, that left a lack of bacteria in the filter, so now my water is all green and cloudy...arghh!!

six more days brett, six more days!!

shopping list for tomorrow:
1. more super ick cure
2. get some tall plastic plants (i like the hagen 15" ambulia, i have no TALL plants...)
3. floating algae magnet
4. freeze-dried bloodworms..or frozen if they have some..
5. some terra cotta pots to smash up for mr. loachie

Your LFS owner doesn't know what he/she is talking about. Ick attaches to places that are most vulnerable to the fish, the gills and fins. If the fish is weakened or stressed, the ick can then can get through the slime coat and cover the entire body. Same ick, not 2 different parasites.

ok, thanks keith, i was just relaying what they said, but thanks for clearing that up...

i got some more medication today, along with the tubiflex cubes, the gouramis just gobble them up!!

i also looked at the tall, bushy plastic plants..they were $4 more than at petcetera, so i will buy them there next time i go...i looked for a small floating algae magnet (the ones around 1x2") but they only had a huge one...(like 3x4")

well, treatment ended today...

i went for 6 extra days, all the fish are doing excellent...
i treated the tank for 12.5 days i figured out..the ick disappeared 6 days ago...i hope its gone..haha

so yea, everyone is active and eating well..
