kuhli & dojo groups

Post by mr white » Thu Feb 22, 2007 6:17 pm

hi, i wanted to ask what the best number of kuhlis to have in a group is. i currently have four and want to add more, but i want to maximize their happiness by making the perfect group for them.
i was also wondering the same about dojo/weather loaches. i have three of those, and was wondering if five is the best idea? thanks for your time!
one redfin, one albino redfin, one kuhli loach, one horseface loach, one pleco, one clown pleco, two upside down catfish, two bala sharks in 77 gallons.
more kuhlis and horsefaces soon, hopefully.

The only limit is the size of your tank, regarding the Pangio's. Basically more the better.

Sorry no experience with Weathers/Dojos. But i would imagine the same as above, as loaches are social fish.

I intend on having 10 kuhlis and 5 dojos.
Also, what about horse face loaches? do they need groups? I have one, there were no more at the LFS, and I wouldn't imagine they'd care about groups as they probably can't see each other under the gravel anywho. am I wrong??

True! They cant see each other but they do feel the presence of each other, under the substrate. If possible, i would add another two. Because these are nocturnal loaches, they do enjoy each others company out of the substrate at night.

I'm in the "The More The Merrier" group with it comes to all of my loaches :D

I do know that my Horsefaces are much more visible since I added the 6 little guys to the two bigger ones....I've had them long enough now that it's hard to tell them apart, and I still see them almost all the time. I guess mine don't realize they are supposed to be nocturnal

really? I'd love to see mine more; when I watch movies, he'll come out because it's dark, and every time I turn on the light he'll be there in the front of the tank, watching me... and then he'll dive back into the gravel. anyway, I assume he's watching me, perhaps he's watching the movie? anyway, I'm going to the mall today so I'll stop in and ask Donna about more, she said she can special order them for me at no extra cost. horsies are 9.99 here. :D
