Post by chris1932 » Tue Mar 06, 2007 10:07 pm

Today I picked up 6 Sinogastromyzon wui. One has perieshed already but it was looking sketchy the whole time. If they last the night I will have some pictures tomorrow.

As of 6:00am this morning two more had died. Not as bad asa I was expecting. I have noticed that the abdomens of the fish that perished were very dark and what I judged to be the intestinal tract or stomach was very dark. Any clues as to what this could be?

That's too bad. I hope you have them in quarentine.
Hillstreams seem to get internal infections that probably appear due to compromised immune systems from stress or oxygen deprivation. I would guess that's what's going on with your fish. I would be very careful of the other fish. You might want to give them a full treatment of Maracyn and Maracyn 2. Good luck!!

Its been a few days and I have two of the six doing very well. I had hoped to be able to save all of them but as with most, they are fragile. On a happier note I got my birthday present early in the form of three wild Peruvian Red Spotted Green Discus and ten Peruvian red shouldered Scalare. The Scalare are quarter size and already begging for more food. The Discus on the other hand are still in the ignore you at all costs mode.

I did PraziPro and API triSulfa on the Wui that are in fact in Q. Its been a busy fish month for me getting alot of TA Wilds, the Wui and 20 Galaxy Rasboras. I have had to set up four more tanks. SHUCKS :)
