i want to set up a loach tank

Post by gorhaf » Sat Mar 10, 2007 12:58 am

I want to set up a loach tank i have 3 gold dojos now and i love them mine are always active playing in the bubbles and chasing each other. I want to get 3 or 4 more and some other loaches not sure what ones i want yet. Will a 55 be enough or should i get a 90. Also will the dojos eat full grown snails or just the eggs they lay?

thanks for any and all ideas

Hi and welcome,

First of all, let me ask if you are wanting a tropical tank? If so, you will need to have a seperate tank for your dojo's as they like cooler water, actually a heater is not even necessary. I went through this with my dojo's. Now they are happy in 68 degree water with other dojos, and I have a seperate tank that has (at the moment) 6 baby clown loaches, 2 angeliucs botia and 2 rainbows.

Do your research on your loaches and make sure they are all compatable environmentally. I didn't and ended up with ick. Lesson well learned. There are so many loaches to choose from...you will have fun just checking them out. Just be sure to check for temp/substrate/water requirements and such.

Good luck,
Krista
