Today I checked out the P. fangi I had seen at a Walmart. Last time, there was ich on a couple of the fish, but they looked healthy otherwise.
There was also ich on some irredescent sharks in another tank.
Today, there were no fangi at all (there had been 5) and the ich was gone on the sharks.
I suspect the fangi were either killed by the ich or by the treatment. How unfortunate.
I also went to the Petco down the street for the first time in a long time. I was surprised to see that they had Gastros! The fish had just come in today. They had three stellatus and two ctenocephalus and one unknown dead one. Some of the fish had wounds on them so I wonder if they will survive. One in particular, a cteno, looked pretty nice, but I was strong and didn't buy it. I'll check on them over the weekend to see if they make it. One encouraging thing is that the fish guy actually seemed to know something about their requirements and care. He also said they had another species before, that from his description sounded like chenis. He thought they might start ordering them on a regular basis too.

Condolences, Jim.
A pretty similar situation here.
As said before, I was planning to get a few Gastros together with the baby Rosies (who btw look much better today)... except that the Gastros, that arrived in good condition just on Sunday, yesterday had signs of the patchy disease...
When I was leaving the store yesterday, I got a promise that they will treat...rechecked on the way home today: no treatment, some more dead, some more affected....
Well, I did get one more promise to treat....
Just so darn stupid and sad.
