Sidthimunki or nigrolineata? Pics enclosed.

Post by flounder » Wed Apr 18, 2007 3:38 am

I bought 3 fish which were listed as sidthimunki for $7.99 each at my lfs. Upon putting them into my tank I realized that these may not be sids since they're almost 2" long. They have the "chains" although not perfectly formed on one or 2.

I did some more readings here and am still puzzled on which specie I bought, sidthimunki or nigrolineata.

Any thoughts?

BTW I did search through all the past threads.

If I'm able to take pics of them, I'll post them tomorrow. It's going to be tough since they're still hiding behind the plants.

Yes pictures will help a lot. With variations in markings it's difficult to guess based on your description.

PITA to catch but got it

Finally was able to catch one. Is this sidthimunki?

Also I've seen a couple of dead cherry shrimps and shell since these have been in the tank. Are they to blame? The mouth seem so small to be able to eat a shrimp.

I would say almost definatly Sidthimunki because the chain is visible even if it is very faint.
