Nice fish! B. splendens are among my favorites. I have a nice group of 8 myself. As for them coming out more, making the group bigger will definately help. Im pretty sure these are wild caught, which will also make them a bit shy. One way to get them out is to feed them, they love to eat! Also, they will come out at water changes and go crazy. But, if theres places for them to hide, they most likely will.[/quote]

I have perch, Ctenopoma acutirostre in there with them but they are not aggressive as their reputation seems to lead you to believe. They are really timid other than feeding time. They do love to hide out so there are lots of hiding places. I hope the other 2 will bring these guys out more.

I have had corys before but just fed them the sinking shrimp pellets. Any other suggestions as to feeding. I don't think they have been on a very good diet as their colors as not as vivid as I believe they could be.

They are out a bit more today but I am still going to get the other 2 and at least one more weather loach as I have never seen them marked like this. Can't wait for a cory party, hehe!

I am ashamed to say that I am not. My QT tank is in use right now with a sick pleco (either gravid or bloat).

I know it's a risk but I got them from a LFS that says and I stress says, they QT for 3 weeks. I would have never gotten them put I just couldn't pass up the corys due to the size and the weather b/c of the markings. I am just keeping a VERY close eye on the tank, and due to past experiences due to and UGFS I have a medicine cabinet that has more meds than the one for the humans in this house, lol.

OK, thanks so much...the other fish in the tank get bloodworms, mos. larvae, and brine shrimp so I am sure some of these make it to the bottom. I also have the algae wafers so I am all set.

I am a little conderned about one of them as it has a white spot, not like ick of velvet near it's caudal fin. It does not look like fungus or a parasite, wonder what it could be. It really looks kinda like a dry spot if that makes any sense. You can actually see it in one of the PICS I posted( have to look hard). Fish is acting fine, excpet for being shy. Any thoughts?

Yeah, they need more then just sinking shrimp pellets. I dont even use the shrimp pellets. I have mine on a steady diet of:

Hikari sinking wafers, Hikari algae wafers, Ocean Nutrition flake food enhanced with brine shrimp, Tetramin tablets, Ken's earthworm sticks (which they go crazy for), Boyd's Vita Diet, and Frozen blood worms and brine shrimp. The Boyds is the staple of the diet, they get it almost everyday.

Now of course, they dont get all that everyday...My loaches also get that too, but they also get vegetables...

Well, I have the wafers, shrimp pellets and blood worms covered, however, I have never heard of any of the other stuff. We are very limited here in TN as far a LFS. I would love to get the boyd's and the earthworm sticks, can I order them online?

I am doing some research now about this growth on my cory. I really don't think it's fungal or a parasite, perhaps just a growth. If you get a chance to look at the PICS I posted let me know what you think.
