Assortment of pics

Post by Emma Turner » Mon Apr 30, 2007 8:31 pm

Whilst taking pictures of the Emperor Botia at the shop last night, I also took a few random shots of other species, which I thought I'd share.

First off, another series showing 'a Tangle of Tigers'. The first one is a bit dark, but you should be able to spot them all. They have the length of a 4ft tank to roam, but in the evenings choose to pile up in a big heap together. Those S. berdmorei were very underweight when they arrived, but they have undergone Levamisole treatment and have gained a lot of weight (except for one or two, which we'll keep working on):

Syncrossus berdmorei (with skunks and S. helodes in the background):

Syncrossus helodes (mature adult):

Aborichthys elongatus resting in strange positions:

The beautiful Lepidocephalichthys thermalis:

Image

Yasuhikotakia eos (they get very excited, thinking they are about to be fed):

Image

Annamia species from Vietnam (currently being marketed as Vietnamese Homaloptera):

Yasuhikotakia modesta:

This is a new Schistura species from Vietnam, known as Schistura sp. 'danang'. I need to get some clearer pics of these:

And an unknown goby contaminant that arrived with the abovementioned Schistura:

Rosy Loaches:

Golden Weather Loaches (Misgurnus anguillicaudatus) - this first pic is a bit blurry, but shows a pretty one I have got my eye on!

Buried in the sand:

And finally, some rare pics of the reclusive adult Sewellia sp. 'spotted' from the River Tank at home:

See the pectoral fences on this male:

A minor scuffle:

The most impressive set of tubercles and pectoral fences ever!

Hope you enjoyed them.

Cooooool......that goby is super cute and that black marked Dojo is nice too.

Those Sewellia pictures are absolutely fantastic. That male is stunning. Shame you don't get to see them more.

Martin.

"a few random shoots" :?:

I was speechless the 1st time I looked at this thread. All I can say now is that this is one of the greatest single photo shoots I've ever seen. This is the benchmark.

Remember back when we were first starting the loach book? We had to struggle to find people who kept the tigers. That whole list of loaches is spectacular, and there are some very cool shots in there.
Your vantage point determines what you can see.
