Ah, so it was a fight.
And I did spruce the tank up alot.
I splurged and bought a bunch of swords and java fern. I'll get pics up later.

Looking at the empty tank in front of me, I can't help but wonder if some dither fish would assist the loaches in breeding. :?

the owner of the fish store, who has bred clown loaches a few times...
I'd be really interested if you could share some stories regarding how the fish store owner bred clown loaches. If never heard of a documented case of this happening in aquaria as of yet.

As for dithers? Possibly some other breeding activity may get them in the mood...or at least provide some live foods which will help with conditioning the breeders. Are the males mature? Do they have a reticulated pattern or are they still showing the 'yoyo' markings clearly?
books. gotta love em!

YoYoYo- Please tell the Fish Store owner about this website. We'd really like to know about how they bred clown loaches. It would make a great article if we could get some specifics and some pic's if this is really true.

Sorry if I'm prying, but I will as much as I can because I find this hard to believe.

Actually, I believe it was the b. sidthimunkis he bred. Sorry for any confusion. And anyways, would cherry barbs be good dithers?

I've had potential Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki breeding actions in my own aquariums and i also know of a person who actually has bred them. It would be interesting if can inform us of these interactions, so we can compare them. Water quality...etc.

So any ways, would cherry, rosey, tiger, or gold barbs be good dither fish?
They all breed pretty fast, right?

Barbs are notoriously greedy fish, and whilst they can be bred quite easily, they would not be the best choice *if* you were to be lucky enough to get your loaches to breed. Any eggs would be consumed very quickly, particularly in such a sparsely decorated tank.
