Botia Kubotai flashing

Post by blazeblast » Fri May 18, 2007 6:01 pm

Hello! I posted recently about the two botia kubotai I recently purchased. They have been in a 2.5g QT for almost a month. I really want to move them to my main tank but I also don't want to introduce parasites.

When I first got them I started a Levasole treatment as per Shari's instructions, from the page http://www.loaches.com/disease-treatmen ... chloride-1. I did this because the fish were skinny, they were not eating, and I also read that wild-caught fish such as loaches commonly have worms and that a Levasole treatment is a safe and effective "just in case" route to take. They get their last treament tomorrow. Since the first treatment they have certainly perked up, they are eating and chasing each other around the tank occasionally. One of them will even do a loach dance for me occasionally!

However, I still have one last concern. I noticed them flashing quite vigorously about two weeks ago. They only seem to do this around feeding time, but when they do, it is A LOT. They seem to be trying to scratch their gills. There is no other visible sign of disease, just the flashing. I started treating them with PraziPro last Friday, hoping it was gill flukes, and so far it hasn't produced any results. They are still flashing.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Hi blazeblast,

Could you post your water parameters? Your pH, Ammonia, nitrite, temp...

That may help others to come up with some ideas.

Hope it all works out well, and that you can soon introduce your new loaches to their big tank.

:)
