Rehomed Clowns

Post by Mad Duff » Sat May 26, 2007 4:11 am

A friend of mine contacted me earlier in the week and asked me if I would take 3 Clowns that someone he knew was desperate to off load.

I wasn't going to take them because I already have 15 Clowns but the fact that my new 7ft tank will be here in a couple of weeks I did take them.

Anyways he dropped them off for me on Wednesday night and here they are:

This one (bottom left) we have nicknamed "Stumpy", I cant decide if it is slightly deformed or stunted but he seems happy enough and swims around with the other Clowns no problem

This is the biggest one of the 3 at around 6"

This is the biggest one again along with the other of the 3 which has a quite unique pattern on one side

And a better look at number 3

They have all settled in really well, and I know they are going to love the 7ft tank :D

they are nice. That pattern is funny, I´d like to collect a school of just very individual ones...

... would you mind sharing follow-ups on stumpy? I´m always insecure in figuring out shape/parasite correlations. A friend of mine has 5 clowns, one of them grew large (realtive to the group) and one stayd tiny and skinny. When he got them they were all the same. There are chances I may need to take them some day as well, and I´m not sure about his skinny one, who gets quit a dummy when eating, that looks quit akward ...

My Sewellia had absolutely no sign of anything, healthy strong shape, ate to last day,... got tired...hmmm.

Enjoy the extra-clowns

No problem, I was thinking possible skinny disease to start with but for the size of it there is no signs of the indents behind the head, what makes me think stunting or deformity is the depth of the caudal peduncle, it is deeper than any of the other clowns and it is just over half the size of my biggest.

They're going to love your 7ft tank. 8) We have a 6.5-7" clown that we call the 'Cut & Shut Loach' because he reminds us of when they take 2 different cars and fix them together to make a dodgy one. It looks like the front half of his body doesn't match the back and there is definitely a shorter than usual gap between the back edge of the dorsal fin and where the caudal peduncle starts.

That sounds very much like Stumpy, does yours swim the same as the other Clowns, Stumpy's swimming can be a little erratic at times.

Yeah, the Cut & Shut Loach swims perfectly. He/she is a right feisty specimen too, always sneakily sidling up to others and giving them a good nip.
