Floating plants in the loach tank

Tired of snail outbreaks in my planted tanks, I'm thinking about floating any new plants I get in the clown loach tank before planting in other tanks.

Any reasons this might not be ok?

I don't see any reason it would hurt the clowns, but the clowns may damage the plants foraging in them for snails.

That would really depend on what you use to give good flow in your clown loach tank. If I was to float plants in my tank, they'd get dragged against the protective cages of the powerheads, in particular the powerful Tunze stream. Also, my clowns are big enough to destroy all but the most robust of plants and I think they'd see any that were floating about as 'toys'. So it really depends on your set up, size of the clowns & types of plants really.

yes I can
new store bought plants and snails can carry desease. I isolate new plants for a month before putting them in a tank.

I have to agree with newshound. Quarantine. I'd probably also dip them in mild bleach water (then in dechlored) or potassium permanganate when I 1st get them before they go into any tank.
