New River Tank Questions
To cut a very long story short, I'm about to finally start setting up my river tank.
The tank dimensions are 3'9.5" long by 12" wide by 12" high (approximately 28 USgal/23 Imperial gal/110 Litres).
I have gotten three power heads, each one pumps 1400L per hour. If I use all three the water will be cycled 70L per minute (1m every 81 seconds).
Seems a daft question, but would this be too strong in a tank this size? I can always just use one or two power head(s) and keep the other spare.
Thanks

Hello Setsuna,
I've just built a manifold with power head (aquaclear 3000) I had 2 but thought my fluval 304 and piston pump + air stone would be enougth with 1 power head . I wish I'd used both now when I look at the natural habitats of the fish I am keeping. the tank looks great to me ,I'm new to this ! but the extra flow would have been more natural so I'm wishing I had gone for it now.
Some one with respected knowledge will soon reply .
All the best,
John
P.S. This is the most austheticaly rewarding project I've set up ,but do wish I'd gone for the extra flow !

Hi Setsuna
I asked a similar question a month or so ago:

Basically I dont think you can have to much flow
