Mesonoemacheilus

I managed to pick up two new groups of loaches today I got 5 Mesonoemacheilus triangularis and 5 of what I am 99% certain are Mesonoemacheilus guentheri :D

(May not be understood by N. American readers)

You just get the impression that watching Mark buy fish must be like seeing a combo of Obi-Wan-Kenobe and Del-boy.

Spectacular!!! 8) If and that's a big if we got these here they would be 15.00 each US or more at 1.5-2", I have had several with red on the dorsal but alas they are in fish heaven now. No doubt due to low flow as I matched the LFS set-up. I have learned here at LOL that is wrong and may try again though. GREAT PICS :)

Very nice, and yes, the 2nd lot are definitely M. guentheri. 8) Keep a close eye on those lot, very feisty little loaches. :wink:

Thanks Em, the M. guentheri will be going into a 75 gallon full of hiding places with the Sid's and the M. triangularis will be going in a 75 gallon as well along with my Yoyo's and Kubotais, I may even end up moving a couple of the M. triangularis into the 7ft eventually but ideally I wanted something different to go with the clowns. All of these are only around 1.5" at the moment.

Fantastic pics Mark , if they do get too stroppy you could try the plain setup , it does seem to work , good luck , keep us posted on the Tri's ,though the Gun's are similar , they might be more suitable ,i.e. due to smaller size, i had a dozen in a decorated tank ,plenty of action but little damage if any ?
Hey not only do you find a bargain , but they look in superb condition .

The M. guentheri seem very timid at the moment but that could have something to do with been surrounded by 36 Y. Sidthimunki :lol:

I am sure they will both come out of their shell a bit but I think there are enough caves, pipes and other hidey holes for them to be ok (here's hoping anyway :lol: ).

I am hoping to eventually set up a couple of 20 gallon breeding tanks once my shed is up and running so these might make a nice spawning project :)

Absolutely! :D I have thought about trying this myself, but you know the story, not enough space for more tanks at present! :roll:

When the new pond gets built I have said that I need a shed to house the filter in and there may well be enough room left over for 4 maybe 5 20 gallon tanks :lol:
