Slippery characters

Post by Emma Turner » Fri Jun 15, 2007 8:37 pm

Some of you already know that I've been trying to get better pics of these *new* Pangios, which were imported a few weeks ago as "Pangio cf. piperata" and have been proving very secretive:

They are clearly much more like P. anguillaris, although have a much more brown/golden colouration and stronger markings. I put a few into my photo tank the other evening, and here are the results:

With a ruler (inches) for size comparison:

They are lovely! I like the gold coloration they have. They look huge as well, how large are they at this point?

Fantastic!

If I'm reading the ruler correctly, they are about 2"? -- this makes them about as long but much thinner than P.Oblonga.

Nice pics Emma. These are very interesting loaches. The only loaches ( with eel like bodies) I've ever seen are the usual kuhlis. It's nice to see variety.

Thank you. :D

mikev - these are between 2 and 3" TL, quite a variation in sizes in this shipment.
