Crimson Loach = Schistura nagodiensis?
I've just seen an article from a German magazine and they are calling our loved Crimson Loach the Schistura nagodiensis. I've just had a look around on Google and i found this page (read 2.5 colour) before you judge this loach from the picture shown. http://ces.iisc.ernet.in/hpg/envis/sdev ... 2.htm#img2

Interesting! Here's my series of pictures for comparison: http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=4728
I feel that the specimens I had in were a lot more slender in body shape than the paratype shown in the paper, although the length is about right. I think I only remember a couple of the specimens having any sort of spotting on the tails too.
Does anyone know if this range covers the previously mentioned protected forest area in Kerala? I though Karnataka was more northerly, so does this river flow between both areas?

Hi All
I also looked at this in the past but decided that IMO they were not nagodiensis based on (in nagodiensis) the bars being fewer, the head and eye profile being more compact and laterally placed, and the lateral line being short (up to halfway across the pectoral fin) Vs much longer in the Crimson Loach.
So therefore I don't think they are nagodiensis
Cheers
