MODESTAS...Rescued from certian death, but now what?

Post by poeticpyro » Wed Jun 27, 2007 10:29 pm

I recently adopted 5 modestas. They're rumored to be 7 years old, they're only 2-3 inches long. They're definately modestas... but they're very small... currently they have fattened up and are leaving the angelfish alone. They're in a 50gal tank... got rid of the 30 they were in. I know it's a bit small for the five of them, but they're stunted or something. Please help with any information on modestas and stunting... I had to rescue these guys... or else the woman was going to dump them in the local lake... yeah they would have lived..
many tanks...

got to love my fat little wobbly wigglies...

man I am glad that MOST fish will not live long term in northern ontario.
the waterways of the southern USA are getting infested with invading species.
take some pix of the mods.

Thanks guys... they're still pretty shy. Surprisingly haven't touched the two 6" Angelfish. They have a ton of hiding places and plants. They should be very happy. I was wondering if they're going to be fine. I think they've been stunted. I know they're in a "small" tank... but it's all I can give them. They have a lot more swimming room then they once had. The woman had them in what looked like a 10 gallon maybe a little bit bigger, but nothing as roomy as they're in now. Pics will come soon as long as they pop their little barbles out for a look-see.
