Regarding the red-tail shark .. usually they get along well with loaches, but all of those sharks are a bit problematic when they grow older. My rainbow shark got along very well with all my loaches, in fact he even enjoyed their company, but then he started to fight with a catfish over a nice cave

did you have enough hiding spots? I like to have at least 3 per loach.
I have seen more than one RTS per tank but that was a 180.
I have a RTS in one of my tanks and it picks on all the horseface loach. Not on the kubs clown sids histies zebra or dario.
they just don't put up with it.
I do feel sorry for the two sae in the tank though.
drain your pool!

Great picture mikev :D It's good to know your monster's chilled out. Lets hope it lasts.
Point taken with the plants, but they're just bunched up with lead weights so I can whip them out if needs be, and if it comes to it I can live with the loss of a few plants.
I went back today and picked up three kubs and one lonely striata. I'll start a new thread when I've got them settled in and I've taken a few decent photos, but here's one to be going on with:

Look good in the bag...let's see the real pics.

As to my monster: no aggression noticed. It had a regular chase competition with the next largest loach, but otherwise is very docile.

I really don't understand what changed.... perhaps the presence of a larger yoyo in a smaller tank was driving it crazy. Or it is the large school that relaxes it.
