Help Is this behavior bad?
this loach is normally more mellow. he does dance but not this intensely. is this a bad sign?
should i put him in a permoxyn bath or meth blue bath for 30 minutes?
i am getting a bit nervous. this loach assumed alpha loach and all the smaller loaches are swimming around with this loach in the lead. but does this look bad?

one more video coming
1)one other thing i just noticed. this loach was a very greyed out white colore most of the time in the tank. now hes very dark. even the orange banding on the loach has black on it.
2) the rena x3 output tube is near that area. right now it is pushing tiny bubbles all over the tank. but the loach was doing this behavior before the bubbles started.
3) If I do this dip, is it advisable to take a few fish out at a time put them in the 10 gallon and do this dip? I will have to tear down the entire tank to catch them all. the tank is still a bit yellow from the treatment. i have been running carbon for 24 hours roughly.

All your loaches are belong to me!
i just finished a 25% water change. the loach has calmed down a bit. he went into the pvc pipe and stayed there for a bit. i just took that video about an hour ago. im uploading more now. he was going crazy again after he took the little break. now hes moving around the tank with the blue moon light on but calmly. he will dart from time to time.
not putting any meds. the loach is searching around the tank. i think they may be restless because they are so hungry. i didn't see the upside down cat for a minute and i thought he was lunch lol. the water looks much clearer and the tank is diffused yellow now. the water ammonia tests showed up with no ammonia and the water appeared clear in a 5ml tube.

I think you said your first fliter quit spinning? Can this motor be bad,..also check your heater for ANY signs of moisture inside or any salt trails from lights so as to check and make sure while you are on high alert that there is not a secondary problem with an electrical issue. This is an excellent time to Prime also as coats are injured from meds and as you have removed most of that crap from your water so that would help sooth any irritation. Rinse your carbon to under clear tap water to chlorine wash it and then replace it to remove the impurities from your system. You can probably lose the old one in a a few days or sooner if it is toast since your cannister is going and IF you did not add a piece of old filter media in your new filter earlier do it while in it rinsing the carbon to jump start it.

the impeller is burnt out. i replaced it with a new one. this is the third one in a few weeks i have gone through. i put filter material over the intake tube but sand still gets in there. i will keep both of them going for the time being. i think it will be fine. if not i will transfer that filter material into the canister.
hey tinman, thanks for helping me through with this. the blue light is on its about midnight and the loaches are all out calmly playing. the distressed loach seems to be very calm now. no quick gill movement or anything. just relaxing and digging around as usual. i added a bit of prime to the tank. the filters have been cleaned again with old water.

I also know the feelings you are having from going through this before myself ,I am not a know it all , just killed more fish than most as I have kept more than most. You might take some of those rocks in question out and do a bucket test on them , tank problems are usually a combination of minor problems, not just one thing. I lost two huge eels a couple years ago from what I belive the same thing ,a crash.First sign I caught was a slime coat issue but I did not catch it soon enough. They were arm length and as big around as my wrist and very old and raised from finger size. I also lost part of my loaches in two distinct battles with my tanks over the past ten years . I also had three full blue discus that were plate sized and when that tank crashed in my living room. It was a perfect centerpiece to my house and made people go
. I puked twice a day for a month and almost quit fish keeping over that one......I have had tanks since the 70's since when I was a kid and got a job at a pet store in the fish department and have been hooked ever since.....

i did a 10% yesterday. now the loach is calm but is swimming up and down against the glass like it usually does but it still appears to be doing it quite actively and doing it alone. i am a bit worried still about this loach. maybe the loach is still very sad. i am not sure.
the loach will keep doing this then when the other loaches come near the loach stays calm and starts loachy dancing with them in a more calm manner. this may just be the way this loach does it. i caught him several times in the past doing the loachy dance alone.
the loach that died with the bloating kept swimming with its body vertically for about 3 days. this loach is showing no signs of bloating. but it is using an odd amount of energy. the previous loach that died woulnd't stop swimming for days.
the loach moves the gills quickly when its moving like this. when it calms down the gills look to be moving normally.

the loach has been doing this on and off with a few minute breaks between for close to two hours.
i have not medicated the tank again. does anyone think its time to dip this loach into meth blue or the permaganate dip?
