Angelicus Loach / Kubotai Botia - neat!

Hi, just wanted to ask the Angelicus Loach - Kubotai Botia people here, what kind of tank mates are good with the Kubotai's?

I am hearing from a couple people they can be territorial, or mean, not good with cory cats, etc. But the three I have in my cory and guppy tank are having a riot! Was possibly going to put into the clown loach tank. But they are having so much fun with all these cory cats........ not sure what to do.......

I have a little church steeple temporarily in my corry/guppy in process tank and the Hubotai love it. It is pretty small, with one little opening and all three get in there. After they get acclimated, I may move it out but they play out in the open so much I think it will be fine? hope they don't get stuck.

I did see one chasing a guppy today but I think it was just playing...

I really like these botias!

Mine are in with Clowns, Botia histrionica, B.dario, Corydoras aneus and some barbs. They're little darlings.

Mine are with Dario's/Histrionica's/Straita's. Upper level or medium level fish are Puntius denisonii and Puntius pentazona. Yours should be fine in with the Clowns.

Not problems what so ever! And i've kept mine since 2002 (one of the first peeps in UK to keep them in a home aquarium)

My 6 Kubotai are with 12 Botia Sidthimunki and a Botia Dario. They all get along very well.

Mine are/were with Clowns, Yoyo's, Zippers, Schistura, Kuhlis.

The only problems were with Yoyo's.

However, right now the main pack (9) has no loach tankmates and they seem much happier this way.

Mine are with clowns (some quite small), some corys, bushynose plecos, and tetras. They are perfectly fine with all of these - no sign of aggression whatsoever. On occasion they will follow and nudge another species, but it looks more like curiosity than anything else.

I've got mine in with some panda corys. Seems to be working well for both species so far as I have only had the kubotai for 3 weeks.

Mine are in with striata, harlequin rasboras and white clouds at the moment. I can't really recommend white clouds as tankmates because they prefer slightly cooler temperatures (I'm just babysitting them for a friend while he moves house), but personality-wise it's fine.

ive kept kryptopterus minor (glass catfish), zebra danios, black molly (this was short term), pleco, and yo-yo's with my kubotai.... all with no problems

i think the aggression you may have heard of is among the kubotai themselves, ive heard of an instance or two when they have been hostile with each other. theyre great and peaceful fish, i cant get enough of them.

There was a report on LOL earlier this year about a problem with Striata's: Kubs killed them off. I believe the poster was from the Netherlands. Try to search the forum, or perhaps someone remembers the poster's name...

In my case, a 3" Kub was very hostile to a 4" yoyo and to another, slightly smaller Kub. Mostly excessive chasing, but some biting too. No deaths. The problem was mostly resolved by moving Kubs to a larger tank without any yoyo's, but the Alpha Kub is still unfriendly to the Beta...and it appears that the aggression level is rising again.

The problem in my case is limited to one particular fish; four new larger Kubs I'm quarantining right now appear non-aggressive.

I have mine (6 or 7) in with angelfish, harlequin rasboras, pearl gouramis, siamese algae eaters, otocinlus arnoldi, A. thomasi, characodon lateralis, peckolita species. I have also had them live with marbeled hatchet fish, beckford's pencil fish, corydorus catfish, apistogrammas, "golden wonder" killifish, bolivian rams, german blue rams, various tetras and barbs, bala sharks and probably lots of other things (worked in a fish store for 6 or 7 years). The characodons are the first live bearer I have kept them with.
