Large Males and Small females breeding

Now I have one spawn growing out in my only set up grow out tank. Another in the little 10 and a BIG one (how such a little female laid that many eggs I'll never know--she's barely silver dollar size).
I read Shari's post about her Angels and realised similar activity is going on in our tank with the P.Cheni's.

LES.. and I have 5 P.Cheni's who have recently been breeding. So far we have 5 live babies and who knows how many lurking in the stones!

See Sexing P.Cheni Topic

Today they have started to cuddle up yet again and the dominant pair seem to be the dominant male and also the biggest one who is breeding with the smallest (admittedly the one who is the most nicely patterned) female.

Why???

I realise I shouldn't be one to throw stones as I am just under 5" and my partner is 6" but I was just wondering.
