I managed to video a scuffle that broke out the other night between my male Sewellia lineolata and a Gastromyzon ctenocephalus, this had already been going for on for around 15 minutes and went on for a good 20 minutes after I stopped filming.

Excellent footage!

The Gastro almost looks like a skunk loach with the way it has greyed out and kept the dark stripe along the dorsal surface.

Awesome stuff! We really need to talk with Jeff about the technical possibilities of hosting this stuff at LOL. This kind of footage should be stored in-house because it's really valuable......if for no other reason that it's good assimilation ammunition

Fantastic footage, MD. Though he's smaller, the cteno seems defiantly the winner of this match. And great dorsal/caudal flashing on his part.

The cteno did win eventually, after the Sewellia swam of he sat on the cobble posing for about 10 minutes with all his fins flared and then swam off and decided to pick a fight with a spottie over a cobble at the back of the tank

Hopefully I will manage some decent footage of the spotties soon

Certainly, in my experience I would say ctenocephalus are one of the most tenacious species when an altercation starts. I'm very suprised that a Sewellia backed down eventually though.

That's very cool! It appears the rules are as long as the cento can keep the Sewellia from touching the rock, he's the winner. It's funny how he keeps wedging hinself under the Sewellia. Reminds me of Sumo wrestlers....only not as chubby.

Your not wrong Martin, when the spotties start racing around its like formation flying and all the other hillies dart out of the way as the pass overhead except for that cteno, If he was human he would be built like a brick outhouse have tattoos and own a bull terrier
