My favorite kuhli (photo)

Post by loachmom » Mon Oct 01, 2007 10:50 am

Hi everyone,

After enjoying Martin's superb kuhli pictures this past weekend, I was very happy when my own kuhlis decided to be very active yesterday. I enjoyed watching them dance, scavenge, and drape over the tank decor.

I took lots of photos, but this one turned out the best. This kuhli has two large dots on his side, and my kids named him "Double O Kuhli."

Here he is:

you guys really havee to stop torturing me with these khulis.
I'm tempted to buy the 3 living in a 10G tank at my lfs... I only have a 10G tank available but I think they would enjoy being in my tank rather than @ the lfs.

great picture, and lovely fish! What species do you think he is? The colors/markings look just like one of mine - the one whose species I can't figure out. Same basic colors as my myersi, but the colors just don't seem as sharp, if that makes sense. Mine has spots like that too, but they come three in a row, towards the tail.

Thanks mistergreen, Monica and zmo. :)

zmo, I'm not sure what species he is, but I have spent a lot of time in the species index trying to find out. I believe I have at least two species in my tank. This guy is about 4" long and very chunky. He also has thick black bars and thin orange ones. I've wondered if he was p. semicincta, but I'm not sure. I have several like him.
My other kuhlis are not so black, have whitish thin bars, and are only about 2 1/2" to 3".

I really enjoy watching them, though. I hope you get some, mistergreen!
